Name: Rey
Taelon |
|
-Personality-
Since he came to the mansion, Rey almost prided himself on being the most
"normal" person living there, though that is starting to change
very slowly with time. Far from a jerk though, he'll keep a light demeanor
most of the time, staying polite and friendly to people he's not familiar
with, and saving cracks and joking sarcasm to people he's familiar with. Still,
his attitude on things keeps a flat but fair stance: what's right is right
and what's wrong is wrong. It rarely detracts from that, but anything in between
is usually an opinion that won't affect the grand scheme of things. He's not
naive, so obviously he knows not everyone thinks like this, but as long as
he's true to his own beliefs, his life is good enough for himself. Other people
can do what they wish to do with their lives, and if that's what they are
happy doing, then so be it. This gives good insight on how Rey thinks, and
for the most part, he remains respectful of what people choose to do (though
if such decisions affect him, he completely reserves the right to agree or
disagree with it in color commentary, whether or not he has a choice in the
matter).
-Background-
Rey lived the majority of his life on his homeworld of Duran, which was a
near parallel of Earth; it was in many ways the same as Earth, and in some
ways, very different. He lived in the Skeema region on the less technologically
driven half of the world, and lived a rather normal life as an only son to
both a loving father and mother. On the primarily military-driven world though,
it's hard not to find someone who's not trained in one form of combat or another
(both conventional and exotic), and Rey was no exception to this. In this
training time up to and into his military service, he became adept in both
short and long range weaponry (though he prefers the former to the latter).
With that, he also learned of a magic that's uncommon to most worlds, though
it may exist on worlds outside of Duran: one that creates and manipulates
sources of gravity. He's proven that the magic type can have more than one
use, and can have different levels of intensity, but it does have its drawbacks.
Since he skipped preliminary basic magic teachings, he learns new techniques
with his magic at a much slower rate than one would normally, and this often
results in experimentations that would more likely terribly hurt him than
teach him anything new. Overusage of it can cause him harm anyway, since it
takes a considerable amount of mental strength to manage it; if he's not careful,
he can go unconscious, into a coma, and in a worst case scenario, die. For
reasons like that, he finds training in the art essential, as more experience
in using it will allow him to use it longer and more freely.
Just starting one of his leave of absences, his world was universally assaulted by a mysterious force of jet black lifeforms with unheard of ferocity. In midst of the chaos and death, Rey was literally lifted of his world into a opened 'gate' in the sky, and his last twisted image of home was his own hometown in fire and destruction. He awoke later after what seemed like an eternity, in a strange building which he recognized as a hospital. In confusion, paranoia, and gut instinct, he left the hospital as soon as he could, taking refuge in area outside the city where he found himself. He relishes the luck he had in finding lodgings in a mansion on Tokyo's outskits, but the thought of home always haunted him. Almost subconsciously, he tried to block the thought out (assuming the world for dead) and tried to start anew in the halls of his new home, gaining new friends among the varied, unique denizens, almost illegitimate family by being accepted by their care, and even employment under the mansion's resident multi-universal ultragenius Kagakusha (who he actually has asked to be his wife), but he couldn't go for long without knowing the truth about what happened.
Thanks to Yatena's status as an Ultima Goddess, Rey gained entrance to the Ultima library, where a recording of an isolated transmission on his world confirmed his hidden hopes: people were alive on his world. On the return trip, the travelled group saw nothing more than a desolate world, and all human life was isolated to underground tunnels, sharing dangerous space with the alien race still living there. A mission of all caliburs, assault, protection, and liberation, the objective was found in the Hive Mind Paragon of the species, who assumed the form of one of the world's dwellers. Needless to say, much was discovered about the locust-like race, basing itself around evolution by absorption, but the group managed to stop them and killed the Paragon; with it, died the rest of the race. Rey's mind and heart was finally comforted in the fact that he finally knew what happened, and was able to save his world from it, but nothing binded him to his home anymore. His immediate family was dead, and he felt that the surviving people didn't truely need him to rebuild their lives. Not to mention, there were soul-bound things on Earth that he couldn't bring himself to seperate from (namely Kaga). So Rey went back to the mansion, where he'll continue his new life.
