June 10, 2002 Alright, alright, I'll rant on something now. The current poll, for example...

YOU PEOPLE ALL MAKE ME SICK! Why? My *SOUL* is for sale, and only 3 people want it?! What the *HELL* is wrong with all of you?!

Not much for me to say, except that I came in my pants when I saw the VRs that're gonna appear in Virtual On Force (http://www.hitmaker.co.jp/game/vo4_2/SITE/vr_home.html), and I know that I'm either gonna cosplay as Citan from Xenogears when piloting the Kagekiyo, or just play as myself and pilot the Myzr.

Can you all tell that I'm a sick, sick person? Thought you might realize it sooner or later.

June 14, 2002 Ahh, the good ol' antisocial character. Don't you think they're bad-ass and cool?

DEAR GOD, NO!

Almost all the time, the anti-social character is taken too far. Found sitting in the dark corners of a room, these characters find pleasure in telling people off and sitting like loners in the shadows. Occasionally, these characters try to kill the older ones that've been in the RPG for months, maybe even years, just to prove that they're bad-ass.

Lesson for you people: Anti-social people are *NOT* bad-asses. Despite what the anti-social people think, they aren't bad-asses. They're just that... anti-social and unwilling to change. How can you fix that? It's not something you can do alone.

You can have your character *try* to start a conversation. Have them act shy, want to hide, whatever. Just... have them talking. That's the first step. The next is up to you, whether you want them to become more social, yet retain aspects of their personality. To quote Mike on Setsuna:

"It all depends on the player, however. Karin's character started out, well, not exactly social, but he's a lot more so now, and people like bumping into him. He's dependable when things get bad, while retaining a normal bad-ass level"

Look at Squall and Cloud. Probably not the best examples, but the only ones I can think of right now. Cloud was the loner soldier type, sitting back and doing his job without caring about anything or anyone around him. With his experiences with his party and friends, he learnt to care, and that people *ARE* there to help him, be there with him, and carry the weight of his troubles on their shoulders, too. Likewise for Squall.

Personally, I find anti-social characters to be good or bad, based on their roleplayer. How they're played affects the view of those playing, and the characters that they play... that's something I can't work on for you, that's your job.
